Overview
A port operations team in Baltimore is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Assistant. This full-time, onsite role blends administrative responsibilities with hands-on work at the docks. Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
- Coordinate and oversee the discharge of bulk and break-bulk vessels.
- Support vessel operations by working directly with captains, crews, and terminal staff.
- Monitor port activities to ensure operational procedures and safety standards are followed.
- Identify potential risks or operational issues and escalate appropriately.
Communication & Customer Service
- Serve as a point of contact for shipping partners, truckers, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate updates clearly and professionally to internal teams and external partners.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring high-quality service.
Administrative & Cross-Functional Work
- Assist multiple departments with scheduling, documentation, and operational coordination.
- Prepare and process invoices for services rendered.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and operational records.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Support incident reporting and documentation as needed.
- Collaborate with security teams when operational issues arise.

Education & Experience
- Minimum of an Associate Degree; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in operations, logistics, security, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience in environments involving compliance, monitoring, or coordination with law enforcement is beneficial but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and board cargo vessels.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
- Overtime and some weekends required based on vessel schedules.
Compensation
- $24-$27 per hour, depending on experience.
- Opportunities for overtime.
Hiring Timeline
